Treatment of Foreign Substance in Eye

Treatment Principles

  • Never rub the affected eye hard but close eyes and make the foreign substance flow out with tears.
  • Rinse the affected eye with warm water, cool boiled water or salt water, or soak your face in it, open and close each eye in turn to clean the foreign substance.
  • If step 2 still fails to rinse out the foreign substance, turn over the upper/lower eyelid and stick to the foreign substance with wet cotton stick (or with an angle of clean handkerchief).
  • See an oculist for check and treatment whether the foreign substance has been cleared or not, never apply eye water by yourself or wear contact lens.
